Atashi
A short narrative-heavy video game concept created as a passion project together with 3D artist Cate Elyce and a small team of audio designers. I handled 2D assets throughout the project, with roles ranging from initial concept design and art direction, through to designing 2D patterns and textures, UI, branding, merchandising and social media marketing.
The game is set in a fantasy world but draws lots of inspiration from real life, such as from Tibetan textiles and the architecture of modern Greece. My biggest challenge was keeping colours and pattern styles consistent and believable while still creating an otherworldly, mysterious vibe. It was also my first exposure to motion graphics and 2D texture design. The game was successfully launched on itch.io (2018; since removed).
Scope: Branding, UI, Social Media, Business Cards, Art Direction, Merchandise, Booklet Design, Illustration, Character Design, Concept Art, 2D Textures, Animated Credits
Tools: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Foil Embossing
Team: Emily Dempster & Cate Elyce
