APLAR 2022
The Asia-Pacific League of Associations for Reumatology (APLAR) Congress is held annually across different countries in the Asia and Pacific regions. The 2022 event was held in Hong Kong to an audience of over 1700 medical specialists.
The APLAR branding follows a theme that is then customised to match the congress location, including a new logo that depicts the iconic Victoria Harbour, and a colour palette featuring electric oranges, purples and blues reminiscent of the Hong Kong skyline. Using these guidelines, I designed over 100 new print and digital artworks to create a comprehensive and cohesive congress experience.
APLAR caters to an incredibly multilingual community, so all assets were designed with accessibility as the driving motivator. In particular, I designed workbooks that were distributed to all attendees for notetaking during plenary sessions. Despite their simple design, they were praised by the organisers for using a wide line height and leaving plenty of negative space, which allowed attendees to easily take notes in their native languages. These accessibility considerations led to me being recommended as the primary designer for future APLAR events.
